Our Story
Once Upon a Crumb was founded by Heidi and Brittany in 2014 as an in-home bakery that served a large variety of baked goods and custom cakes. Since opening, our founders won many awards to include “Rookie of the Year” and “People’s Choice Award”. We serviced countless Weddings, Birthdays and other Celebrations throughout the years, and pride ourselves on excellent customer satisfaction.
In 2017, we moved to a commercial kitchen located in Carroll County Farm Fresh. Finally, we were able to have a dedicated work space where we could begin to deliver even more products to our community — not only on a personal level but also as a wholesale supplier.
In 2018, we started the search for a location to open our own storefront.
In 2019, Heidi and her husband welcomed their first child, and Brittany decided to pursue another professional career. Throughout this transition, we have made sure that the quality of our products and customer service have remained the same.
Our Future
We want to establish a place where families and friends can cherish their time together in an environment that feels like home. We want to bring delicious baked goods and fresh coffee to the Sykesville/ Eldersburg area where we can establish personal relationships with each and every customer to make their experience a relaxing and personal one.
Heidi has a Masters Degree in Special Education and has devoted her entire adult life to working with children with special needs. She is committed to providing employment opportunities and job training to individuals with special needs from the community. She works daily to structure a platform that provides these opportunities through Once Upon a Crumb.
Our mission
We are dedicated to cultivating a successful company that focuses on custom, made-to-order cakes, as well as healthy, creative edibles and beverages. We strive to use the highest quality, locally sourced ingredients to create products that bring the community together. We are committed to creating job opportunities for individuals with special needs within our community.
